Utah looking good going into 2010-11, Minnesota, not so much

Deron Williams' fans were worried that he would be in Chris Paul's shoes next year, great PG with a not so great team.   Paul Millsap will be a good replacement for Boozer, especially considering his cost.   Boozer jumped to the Bulls for 5 years and $80 million Millsap resigned last year for 4 years and $32 million.   Millsap provides the same offense with no defense that Boozer provides at half hte cost.   Keeping Millsap for cheap looks great now when Minnesota unloaded Jefferson for a couple picks.

The Jazz will figure out what works best, but those three players can split up the minutes.   It'll be interesting to see if Jefferson can return to his pre-microfracture form of putting up a double-double every night.   He averaged 22 and 11 in the 08-09 season before his injury and then 17 and 9 in 09-10.   My bet is he returns to his 08-09 form this year and makes Khan look like an idiot.   The trade was a no-brainer for the Jazz, they gave up a crappy developmental C and a couple 1st rounders that'll be in the 20s for sure after this acquisition.
David Khan strikes again!  He's already stated he's ready to trade Koufos.   He won't get more than a 2nd rounder for Kouf.   That won't convince fans to get those Timberwolves Cavaliers tickets next year.  A good GM needs to tell Khan that players trade value goes down when you announce they are on the block. That's why he didn't get any value out of Jefferson.   I can't believe he hasn't been fired yet.   ESPN doesn't even need to have a "rumors" section for Minnesota, they can just type up exactly what he says to radio shows and other media outlets.  Khan told everyone he wanted to take Wes Johnson when no other GMs say who they want to draft. I can't imagine what Khan would actually say about his team if he had a few beers in him.   Oh well, maybe if the team stays bad the Minnesota Timberwolves courtside tickets will stay cheap.

Can the other team in Florida compete for the NBA Championship?

The Magic have kept the core of their 2009-10 team in tact to compete with the new favorites in Florida .  The Magic matched Chicago's offer to keep J.J. Redick   The Magic also signed Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson None of the moves are very big moves, the Magic are hoping they can keep the core of the team together and keep up with the Heat next year.   Those moves won't get fans excited to get their Magic courtside tickets for next year.
Richardson continues on his quest to play for every NBA team before he's done by playing for the Clippers, Suns, Knicks, Memphis (traded before he could log any minutes), Clippers again (only was there for 3 days in the summer so again, no minutes logged), Timberwolves (embarrassingly traded again to the Heat before having a chance to actually prove himself on the court), Heat, and now the Magic so far in his career.  The big change with the Magic will be if he takes over Matt Barnes' starting role with the team if the Magic want to keep Pietrus as their energy guy off the bench.  Hopefully, Stan Van Gundy will allow Pietrus to start, it will give them a different look   Letting Barnes go will be an even bigger mistake if he signs with the Heat to provide them some defense and toughness.   Richardson's defense will be horrible, along with Carter's and Lewis' defense.   Barnes could have defended someone and provided some scoring as well.   I hope the Heat-Magic playoff series happens to watch the Magic get swept in 4.  I'm interested to see if Magic fans concord and we'll see how those Magic Knicks tickets sell.
I don't understand Orlando's obsession with perimter players   Richardson is the same player as Lewis, but 4 inches shorter.   Orlando probably could have gotten Barnes for about the same price as Richardson   Barnes will provide on the ball defense and interior scoring to his next team.
Adding Duhon signals Jason Williams is done with the Magic The Magic got him at a good price considering he'll be on of the best backup PGs in the NBA.   There should be some chemistry with the second unit because Duhon and Redick played at Duke together.
The starting team around Howard of Nelson, Carter, Richardson, and Lewis won't be doing very much damage inside or playing much defense next year, and that's why they won't be doing any damage in the playoffs.

Rockets sign Brad Miller for 5 years $15M

The Houston Rockets signed center Brad Miller for three-years $15 million .  Houston coach Rick Adelman coached Miller while with the Kings and was instrumental to getting him signed.  Rockets player Kevin Martin, who also played with Miller, helped to recruit Miller also .  With a solid backup for Yao, those Rockets courtside might be harder to get next year.

Miller gives the Rockets some much needed depth after having to play undersized Chuck Hayes in the middle after Yao was lost early last season .  There was also talk that Yao's injury may be career threatening , so the Rockets urgently needed a solid backup with some size to fill in for Yao if he has trouble returning from injury.  Looking at Yao's injury history, there's an extremely good chance he'll get a few starts next season, especially at the end of the year.   Yao hates playing at the end of the year, last year was the 4th year in a row he missed the last game of the season.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey was smart to let all the max deals pass by and find a good backup for a reasonable price to solidify the team.  He was able to keep Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola, which he called the team's #1 priority this offseason but found a way to add a body in the front court .  Chuck Hayes is too small start in the middle, and David Andersen didn't play a single minute after March 19th(the Rockets last 15 games).

The Rockets needed a good backup who is a "true" Center, which the 7' Miller will be.  The third year of the contract is only partially guaranteed, so if he is horrible by his third year into the deal (he'll be 37, so very possible ), the Rockets can get rid of him without being hamstrung by his contract .

The Rockets should have an interesting team next year if Yao can stay healthy .  If so, those Rockets Grizzlies tickets might sell out.  There's not one big star on the team, the Rockets explored a sign-and-trade with Chris Bosh to be the big name star , but he also took his talents to South Beach .  Longterm, the team may be better without him , assuming the Rockets were going to give Bosh a max deal, it might look like a bad deal after the next CBA is signed.  Maybe Morey didn't offer Bosh absolute max money , either way, he hasn't made any glaring contract mistakes so far.  Brad Miller for $15M over 3 years looks like a good contract for a quality backup and some Yao insurance.

Atlanta Hawks free agent and draft moves

What were the Hawks thinking this offseason?   Their draft was questionable with getting Jordan Crawford, who probably won't be as good as Jamal Crawford.  Jamal will be a free agent after the season, and the Jordan Crawford pick makes it seem like Jamal will be gone.  That seems crazy because Jamal was the 6th man of the year and is a proven scorer off the bench.  Jordan projects as the exact same player but is unproven .  After the new CBA is signed, money for players like Jamal Crawford should be extremely reduced that what he could have got if he was a free agent this past offseason , which is why it doesn't make sense to draft Jordan Crawford.

The Hawks gave Joe Johnson a 6-year max contract worth $120 million.   The ownership must be hoping by re-signing him will add some sales from Atlanta Hawks tickets.  Atlanta immediately re-signed him, and JJ was the first big name free agent to sign.  Why did the Hawks sign him so soon?   Did another team offer him a max contract   Was there another offer on the table?   Joe Johnson's deal will severly limit the Hawks in the future.  He's not a top 10 player in the league, maybe a top 25 player?  The Hawks have great players, JJ, Josh Smith, and Al Horford, but no well-defined #1.  For teams without a clear #1, no one on the team should make #1 max money.  By year 3 of the JJ contract, when he is 32, the Hawks will be disappointed, but unable to move him.  When he's 35, he'll be making $30 million.  The Hawks have to hope they are sold out of Hawks Raptors tickets to pay for him.  The Hawks obviously felt that they would take a giant step back if he left the team but would any team have given him a max contract?  The Knicks would have been the only conceivable team, but they wouldn't have touched him until after "The Decision".  More NBA teams need to be willing to let go of great players that get preposterously overpaid.  The NY Knicks would be in the same situation they were in three years ago if they gave max deals to Amare and JJ, no cap space because they stupidly spent it on non-Superstars.  History repeats itself, and stupid teams repeat their mistakes.  By wanting to continue their success into the future by keeping Joe Johnson, the Hawks managed to hurt their future success by paying him too much.

Who will be willing to share PG duties with LeBron and D-Wade in Miami?

It's July 16th, and the Miami Heat still don't have the minimum players required to play a game in the NBA.Heat Nets tickets are already sold out. The 2 through 4 are obviously filled, now the 1 and the shot blocking center role need to be filled for the starting lineup.  Mike Miller signed to be the shooter for the Heat.  Big Z has (unofficially) joined the team to start as the center , and Juwan Howard, Joel Anthony, and Dexter Pittman signed to come off the bench .  Udonis Haslem also resigned to round out the front-court subs.  Maybe the Heat don't sign a 1 ?  LeBron or D-Wade can bring up the ball, they demand the ball a lot anyways.  Wade, LeBron, Bosh, Miller, and Z could be the starting 5. Do the Heat really need Mario Chalmers to start for the team?  Can the Heat find someone better than Chalmers to take less money to take the inbounds pass and quickly dish it to LeBron or Wade ?  I'm sure the Heat will experiment with playing Wade, LeBron, Bosh, Miller, and Big Z , and then experiment with a small roster of Chalmers, Wade, Miller, LeBron, and Bosh.  The possibilities are endless with the combinations of going big or going small after Miami finishes picking the roster , hopefully Erik Spoelstra has Pat Riley's permission to do what he wants with the roster.  No matter who they sign, those Heat Bucks tickets are going to be hard to get next year.

So who can Miami still sign ?  The Heat need two more PGs, preferably players that are sharpshooters from 3, a player like Eddie House.  Eddie would have to play for the minimum salary , but the Heat could offer a chance to play his energy backup PG role for the favorite in the East.  That's if the Heat players don't ask for Rafer Alston back to play for less money and to let him try to rejuvinate his career.  Alston has a badreputation for not playing well if he's not the starter.   Jason Williams is another player with experience on the Heat that could backup Chalmers and bring up the average age on the team.  Both Eddie House and Jason Williams have won championships, which seems to be an crucial trait when teams are looking for 6th man/energy players/x-factors to fill out the roster.

Lebron Miami Heat Jersey

Over the final couple of years the sports world have been questioning, Will Lebron depart or keep in Cleveland? On Thursday, July 9, 2010 at 8pm CST the self titled King James made the choice that shocked some and confirmed to others that the Miami Warmth will now have the Big Three. The NBA, as a enterprise entity, is absolutely excited because of all of the speak and attention dropped at the sport of professional basketball because all sorts of stations on television and radio have been tuning in and as everyone knows that this can be a business first and sport second and I do support the athlete getting all he can get as a result of the proprietor is all the time attempting to get all he can get but that could be a topic for one more day. However after all the eye given, the political world chimed in on this Lebron saga also. King James was the star and bread and butter of the team. An area, having been drafted from Akron, he was straightforward to love for Ohioans. There was speculation that he would go away the team, most probably for the New York Knicks, lengthy earlier than the day ending his free agency.

There is talk on sure websites and in print that points to part of the decision with Lebron's move to Miami has to do with "Taxes". The speak is that taxes are less in Florida and that played an element in the decision. Whether or not you purchase that argument or not you need to at least sit again and surprise how a lot does all issues intertwine on this world we name sports and simply what actually goes on off the court docket behind closed doors that turns into a calculated transfer that tears or uplifts the feelings of each fan that spends hard-earned cash to go watch their favourite workforce or player. Let us do not forget that skilled sports is certainly a enterprise first and the business of the athlete is to guard him and his household first in order we all get to emotionally hooked up keep in mind that the job (enterprise) of the athlete is play a sport while our pastime has turn out to be to love and luxuriate in their job. I do know there are a few factors introduced out in this article but as a fan I wished to precise a thought to make others take into consideration where we as followers stand in a world of sport and business.

Hitting Shots From The Three Point Line In Basketball

In pursuit of the perfect basketball game, I’m looking at all the skills and elements that make for great play. Apart from dunking, nothing’s got more pop than an awesome 3 pointer. It’s a glamour shot, for sure- so I wanted the sharpest skills I could get.

Training 3 Point Shots

I’ve always been fairly decent with a long shot, and I put this down to the time I spent practicing in my youth. What worked then can still work now, so I’ve gotten back into the classic three point drill.

I choose 5 spread out spots at intervals alongside the line and attempt to score a set number of baskets, before transferring along to the next area. If I can follow hitting it, from all of the angles, I can keep away from developing any weak spots in my game.
You might also enjoy how to dunk a basketball
I try to choose slightly different spots for every session, in order that I don’t develop the flexibility to hit the long shot from 5 set areas, I’m engaged on my means to score from all types of angles instead.

Utilizing The Backboard

Hitting a shot that’s all net is crazy good, however at range the backboard’s your best friend. Unless you are trying to hit a three from a ninety degree angle, it's best to aim to arc it off the backboard, as much as possible.

Let the backboard do its job- deadening the force of a long throw, so that it goes in the basket. If it catches the rim after going an honest distance, it’s more likely to rocket out of a scoring opportunity, probably into the fingers of the defense.

That’s the main purpose why practice is so vital, relating to three point shots. It’s all about studying how the ball reacts to completely different forces and angles, so that you can better judge the situation.

Jumping Or Stationary?

Each shot sorts have their advantages. The basic stationary shot may be more accurate, for most individuals but the bounce shot, which gets more and more widespread, has a better probability of getting through guards. Weigh up every kind, given different play situations. It might be a good idea to practice each, as much as you can.
Make sure you read jump training to dunk.

Focus and Aim

Ensure you are looking on the spot you need to hit, once you take the shot. It’s important that you focus your energies on getting it to hit the suitable spot; generally the backboard. Being able to establish quick focus can be instrumental to three point shot success. Visualization can help here.

You Must Follow Through With The Shot

You find with a lot of players that as soon as the ball leaves their hands they pull back. This will not give you the accuracy you need and quite often it will not get as far as you wanted it to go. To get around this you need to follow through until the ball has completely left your grasp and is on the way to the basket.

Make sure the hand continues to bend downwards as the ball is released and just after. Try to make this as instinctive as possible, so that you don’t fall short if you are put under pressure.

Understand How you can Inspire Athletes

It's a well known indisputable fact that success requires a substantial amount of hard work, endurance and patients. To be able to obtain victory a sports person is required to practice and train continually perfecting the basic skills. As such, they need to be suitably motivated intrinsically and extrinsically. All good athletes have something that motivates them and pushes them farther then other athletes.

People may be motivated in quite a few ways. Researchers state that motivation is "a process by which a person makes use of obtainable resources, time, talent, and power, and distributes them in a way they choose." This course of is known as the private investment theory, and it features a two-stage causal process. The primary stage involves the effects of external elements and their influence on how an individual looks at a particular situation. In the second stage, the person takes into consideration a private funding in the situation. The private funding includes an internal drive, a desire, or an intention an individual possesses as a reaction to external influences. Completely different athletes have completely different forms of motivation to keep them dedicate to a specific sport. It might be enjoyment, bodily health, social relationships, or purpose attainment.

There are two kinds of motivation that permits sportsmen to realize a selected objective or task. The first kind of extrinsic motivation in sports activities comes from external influences or people. People who are extrinsically motivated can be inspired by rewards resembling trophies and plaques, social recognition, or benefits. Motivation of athletes with sport trophies have been around since Greco Roman era and doubtless before that.
The second type of motivation is intrinsic, which is an inherent characteristic that feeds off one's inside drive to perform a goal or objective. Intrinsically motivated individuals focus on a process for their very own sake. They have a way of self willpower, and look upon themselves as having the ability to meet the calls for of a particular task.
